Amber Benson, an American singer-songwriter director and producer also writes. Most famously, she is known for her role as Tara Maclay on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and she has also produced and appeared in her own films Chance as well as Lovers Liars & Lunatics. She was also in the film Kiss the Bride. Benson was the youngest child born to Edward Benson and Diane Benson. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on 8 January 1977. She has a younger sister Danielle Benson, who works as an artist. Her father is Jewish while her mother raised Southern Baptist Benson grew up attending an Reform synagogue in Alabama. Benson's acting career has been booming after the conclusion of Buffy. Benson was a part of movies like The Killing Jar, and shows like Morganville The Series. Behind the camera, Benson used her writing talent to create her own Ghosts of Albion television series. In 2010 she directed Drones.
